A Scottish boxer has died in hospital after sustaining serious injuries in a bout.

Dundee fighter Mike Towell was stretchered from the ring after a fifth-round loss to Dale Evans in a St Andrews Sporting Club fight in Glasgow on Thursday night.

Tragically, the 25-year-old died later at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

Members of the boxing community have paid tribute to Towell who was dubbed “Iron Mike”.
