A man has died and two others were injured after an ambulance caught fire outside Naas General Hospital earlier this afternoon.
The incident happened around 2pm.
The man, who was in his 70′s was in the back of the ambulance at the time with two crew members was pronounced dead at the scene.
One of the ambulance crew is understood to have received severe burns and has been transferred to the specialist burns unit in St James’s Hospital in Dublin.
The Accident and Emergency Department at the hospital has been closed.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
