A collision between a speedboat and a tourist vessel off the Greek island of Aegina has left at least three people dead and three injured.

A search-and-rescue operation was launched by Greece’s coast guard after the collision involving the tourist boat which was transporting people from Aegina in the Saronic Gulf near Athens to a beach on the nearby deserted islet of Moni.

According to the coast guard, there were believed to have been about 15 to 20 people on board the tourist boat but it was unclear how many people were on the speedboat.
